Bollywood – Ali Zafar to star alongside Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif

The Tere Bin Laden (TBL) actor will be working on a romantic comedy due to be released next summer!

“I am playing a parallel lead role and I really like it,” says Ali Zafar, basking in his post-TBL glory. He adds, “I can play with it and do a lot with it. It is different from TBL which was also a reason I chose it because I want to be versatile in what I choose as my acting projects and I don’t want to be type-casted.”

The film is being produced by Yash Raj films who cast the actor after his Bollywood debut earlier this year. “The film is a romantic comedy with songs and dance,” relates Ali, “The filming will start end of this month and it is expected to release in the summer next year.” Ali considers co-actors Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif as “fun people to work with and are huge stars as we all know.”

Bollywood films traditionally have a lot of dance numbers in them. Can we expect to see Ali Zafar shake his booty to a Bollywood song in the film? “Yes there are Bollywood dance numbers in this movie, I have been dancing for my own songs so why not for the movie?”

Other than his newfound acting career, Ali was due to release his third album Jhoom this year. He had already debuted the title track in the Pakistan Fashion Design Council Fashion Week held earlier this year. Have his Bollywood stints delayed the release? Apparently not, as the actor/musician relates, “I had planned to release Jhoom on Eid but couldn’t see a point with the great tragedy that has hit us. I want the album to play a part in helping with the flood so am devising a plan where my album could also give an opportunity to people in contributing towards the cause.”
