The film also features the refrain of a song from the film Boot Polish (1953)—'Ther Zara O Jane Wale'—sung in the background by a chorus. The name of the lyricist for song no. 11 is taken from the film's promotional brochure, although 'Shailendra' is printed on the 78 rpm record. Child Randhir Kapoor is playing with a dog in the opening titles. Madame Simkie, who choreographed Raj Kapoor's dream sequence, was a member of Uday Shankar's dance troupe and also choreographed Jhansi Ki Rani (1953). The tune of 'O Basanti Pav Pagal' is heard in the background. The scene of Raj Kapoor breaking bread in jail was later performed by Vyjayantimala in Aasha (1957). A Turkish film Avare (1964) was made based on this film, on which an Iranian film The Wheel of the Universe (1960s) was based.
