Bombay Talkies produced this film by re-editing scenes from 14 older Hindi films (featuring actors: Devika Rani, Ashok Kumar, Kishore Sahoo, Mumtaz Ali, M. Nazir Ajmeri, P. F. Pithawala, Kamata Prasad, Maya, Mira, H. Masih) under J. S. Kashyap's direction and filming some new scenes. Songs No. 5 and 6 were taken with scenes from the film Jeevan Prabhat (1937) and Song No. 8 from the film Hamari Baat (1943). Song No. 9 was taken from the film Izzat (1937). According to a news report published in The Bombay Chronicle (31.07.1948), the film's first exhibition was scheduled for August 6, 1948, and according to a report in The Times Of India (dated 08.08.1948), the film's first exhibition took place at Krishna Talkies, Bombay on August 6, 1948. However, according to government gazette records, the film was examined by the censor board on January 26, 1949 and the censor certificate was issued on April 1, 1949, which suggests the film was exhibited approximately 8 months before the censor certificate was issued in anticipation of its later issuance, which is an exception.
