Remarks
Sound-story writer: Ardeshir M. Irani, Dialogue writer: Joseph David, Cinematographer: Adi Irani. This was the first Indian talkie ('All Talking Singing Dancing') film made in Hindi-Urdu. According to composer Kersey Mistry, all 7 songs in the film were composed by his late father Firoze Shah M. Mistry (18.06.1880–18.07.1957). Films with the same title were also censored in 1956 and 1973, and in both of these, recognizing the historical importance of the first Hindi film song from 1931—'De De Khuda Ke Naam Pe Pyare'—it was re-included, filmed in the voice of Wazir Muhammad Khan. According to information published by the Government of India in the Gazette on 2 April 1931 for March 1931, page 297 (No. 10116), the Censor Board reviewed the film 'Alam Ara' on 9 March 1931 and issued the censor certificate on 11 March 1931, after which the first screening of this first Indian talkie was held on 14 March 1931 at the Majestic Cinema in Girgaum, Mumbai.
